In the wake of the tragic terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11th, Artist Against AIDS Worldwide, realizing the recording's powerful healing message extended beyond the scope of the projects original aim, decided to donate 50% of its proceeds to the United Way's September 11th Fund and 50% to the AIDS relief effort, which includes the Global AIDs Alliance, among others "The Making of "What's Going On" brings you into the recording studio and onto the set of the music video with all of the artists who came together in the name of AIDS awareness and relief.
